Technology & Innovation the prime drivers for realty portals

Reproducing the content that I wrote sometime back for one of the online property portal.....
--

Much like the e-commerce, online realty portals is gaining a lot of traction with competition extremely heating up and portals trying to stay afloat with constant innovation.

For instance, when the Chennai based IndiaProperty.com announced the 3D interactive Virtual Property tour, commonfloor quickly followed suit. While the features and apps might not be much of a differential factor, what would probably put a portal in the lead position is the number of projects that they are able to list under any new feature. It is after all a number game here too.

Realty portals are also quick movers in using technology. While the debate on the use of drones for commercial use will sooner or later gain momentum, online realty portals like IndiaProperty.com have already been putting drones to good use for video reviews of listed projects. Using drone cameras, one can get a complete aerial view of the project and its neighbourhood. It not only highlights he projects’ vicinity but also helps the customer in analysing the infrastructure around it.

Providing a video analysis of the project, this feature ropes in an independent property reviewer who visits the site and highlights all the features and amenities provided by the builder. The expert reviews the housing project and scrutinizes the quality of construction and records testimonials of residents too to give the user an unbiased view.

IndiaProperty.com has so far mapped over 100 projects using this feature and is aiming to add more over the next few months.

Besides the 3D experience, almost all portals like IndiaProperty.com, housing.com, common floor have mobile apps to help the buyers on the go. Housing.com recently revamped its iOS App and common floor had introduced e-model feature similar to IP's Property Tour.

Portals are also capitalizing on the smartphone users with their new age marketing. Whatsapp and social media tools are extensively used to reach out to the consumer base.

One clear winner of all these experiential marketing is the consumer says Ganesh Vasudevan, CEO, IndiaProperty.com. “Customer is the forefront of any successful business. Be it with assisted property service or with a slew of innovation that we bring in, we have always been the prime movers and made user experience more friendly and hazel free”

Consumers also see this as a welcome trend. Nikita Thomas ,an avid online shopper and who recently finalised her apartment purchase through online feels that with time being the biggest constraint, such initiatives by brands do help them in narrowing down the decision making process.

While online does ease the process and provide the feel good experience, both Ganesh Vasudevan and Nikita Thomas vouch that prudence is necessary as always.

Corona positive

Hold your thoughts there! Yes, you read the title right, but probably the inference is not what you think!! I #StayatHome, therefore, I #StaySafe.  Ever since the pandemic situation took center stage, there is gloom, sadness, incidences of humanity and inhumanness too, jobs lost, migrants suffering, economy taking a beat., overall more of not so positive conversations around us.  As a strong believer in "there is an opportunity in every adversity", I set my mind to think of all the positives that this abnormal situation has brought with it, in the last few weeks.  # Family time:  In my entire career life, I have never ever spent so much time at my home, being together with the family for so long, except the customary break for a family holiday every year. Be it, children or adults, everyone has their own routine and even for planning a family dinner, you need to prioritize between homework, meeting schedules, etc. In the normal routine, Sunday is rest tim...

Hap Happ Happy

What drove me to write on this is two things - a post by my journo friend  questioning the way we are living today and a related article that I read on happiness index and how India fares very poor in this , in the 117th place much below small countries like Bhutan.  And I just cant resist sharing the pride that I had when my son's teacher had penned in the report card that he is a happy child -  a remark that I really take more seriously than even the academics. And when we met in one of PTA, she did not forget to mention this too.   As a mother of two, I had always been firm that academics will not be on top of my agenda and that I would rather see my child being a sensible thinker and being humane rather than a topper. Now coming back to being happy, happiness is a relative term and can there even be a yardstick to measure it? For me, happiness is measured by the smiles per day, and it helps me also do a quick che...

A byline story in the front page - at what cost?

I have been wanting to vent out my feelings on this topic for quite some time, happy am able to do it now. When Times launched in Chennai, i was one of those many / few whatever the case may be, who was really excited and became a regular reader. But when i read this particular newsarticle titled "Commandos strike through stormwater drains" which made the front page of TOI, my blood was boiling and the feeling was one of anger and frustration. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Chennai/In_the_pipeline_Commando_strike_through_stormwater_drains_/articleshow/3847830.cms I have nothing against the journalist, but what prompted me to react was the story. How can a strategy which our commandos will adopt be made so public that too as a story of that prominence. Well you may call it freedom of expression? but at what cost????????? (Want to write more on this topic but would reserve it for now)
