A byline story in the front page - at what cost?

I have been wanting to vent out my feelings on this topic for quite some time, happy am able to do it now. When Times launched in Chennai, i was one of those many / few whatever the case may be, who was really excited and became a regular reader. But when i read this particular newsarticle titled "Commandos strike through stormwater drains" which made the front page of TOI, my blood was boiling and the feeling was one of anger and frustration. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Chennai/In_the_pipeline_Commando_strike_through_stormwater_drains_/articleshow/3847830.cms
I have nothing against the journalist, but what prompted me to react was the story. How can a strategy which our commandos will adopt be made so public that too as a story of that prominence. Well you may call it freedom of expression? but at what cost?????????
(Want to write more on this topic but would reserve it for now)

  2. Sandhya,
Normally Storm water is a layed is such a way it used for defence strategy purpose,In Europe during 2nd world war drainge pipes are used extensively to move troops.

in the theatre of war everyone uses Storm water drains and drainge pipes

Nothing new or unique about it. Only thing is that we should not tell how we are using it.

A perfect weekend outing

Most of our weekend trips are instantly planned depending on the week ahead, kid's homework schedule and of course the travel budget. One such Friday evening, when we suddenly decided lets do a drive , as always options were aplenty.  When we decided we will do just one day with no overnight stay, the obvious choice was Pichavaram. Fortunately my whole family loves nature, beach, water and it is so easy to agree on a location, the only flip side to it is the fight for the camera, though we take two every time when we travel. Unlike earlier where my hubby insists that we go minus the food preps and eat locally, the kids now prefer otherwise - they love the typical picnic style. And it is such fun to stop on the highway side, eat, jump, click with curious on-goers' looking at our madness at display. And the drive on NH45 itself is something  to enjoy,... Factoring the time that  will take to reach our destination, we decided we will visit Chidambaram temple f...

"SlumDog" excitement!!!

The Golden globe award for A R R ; 10 Oscar nominations - real excitement on air! But the flip side which hits me the title "slum dog" the film shows the dark side of India - 'the slums' to the whole world not wholly an Indian film to Oscars So what are we excited about? ARR for sure, no doubt about it, if the sound designer gets recognised, yes a feather in the cap to already acclaimed technical competence we have. Beyond that i dont see any reason why we need to create so much hype for a film made by Mr. Danny Boyle going to oscars, (ofcourse produced by our Anil Kapoor). Thats we, the people.......

The financial wrongdoing - Satyam

The news of Ramalingam Raju confessing fraud and submitting resignation sends in shock waves to many. Here is a man who suddenly wakes up to his consciecne and admits to manipulating the balance sheet. It leaves me wondering as to how something of this sort can be covered up for a long time now and the Satyam board is clueless. A brand that was respected so much over the years ; the company that contributed to the economy , a brand which Satyam employees were proud of serving .... and one fine morning goes topsy turvy leaving behind a big debate on corporate governance. Will this development shake the confidence and trust levels in IT industry? A topic to debate....
